Halliday Bay Golf Course Camp – Queensland

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

You can find this beach side camp at Halliday Bay, 40 minutes north of Mackay, 1.5 hours South of Airlie Beach and only 10 minutes to Cape Hillsborough.

Whether you're into golf or not this camp is not one to be missed. This is all about location location location. See the short video at the end of the post to see what I mean 😀

Halliday Bay Golf Course

We arrived on a Saturday to check out the camp and have lunch. Heading to the bar first we were off to order some food and drinks.  The bar/dinning area is older and a bit rustic. Old or not, It's a bonus if you ask me 😀 Food is not available every day so best to enquire.

Leonne served us and was really friendly, answering all the questions I had on staying at the camp.

Leonne told us that one game of golf is included in the price for one night stay. If your a golfer this is an amazing deal. This is a 9 hole course designed by Ross Watson. I have no idea who he is but if you're a golfer you might 😀

As well as the golf course you can make use of the tennis and volleyball courts.

Tennis and Volleyball

A few feet from your van is a glorious beach. If your worried about stingers the beach has a net for swimming.

The Camp

Self contained vehicles are welcome we were told. You do have use of toilets that are open 24/7 but they have no light. Take a torch with you after sunset and you will be fine.

The grassed area put aside for camping is large and will fit any size van. You can hear the waves from your van as you sit having happy hour. Or watch the sunset from the beach.

Sea Views

A dump point is available, which in my book is sensational. Especially when your staying at a place for an extended period.

Apparently you can buy water, $5 for 200lts so it says on WikiCamps.

The cost of this Golf Course Camp is $22 per night. No you don't have power and water but you have a beach right there. You have a bar and activities. Your pet is welcome and they have Gas (the Golf Course, not your pet 🙂 )

Halliday Bay is now on our list to stay and I can guarantee it will be for quite a few nights.
