Hayman Island Great Barrier Reef is an ultra-luxury private island resort currently undergoing restoration and construction works. Whilst the resort is not open to guests until early 2019, we are seeking engaged and motivated professionals to be a part of our rebuilding and reopening team.
About the Role
Responsible for the maintenance of irrigation systems, including programming and servicing computerised controllers.
Key duties and responsibilities
Inspects irrigation systems to ensure components are fully operational and in good serviceable condition.
Check and program controllers to ensure they operate as scheduled.
Adjust controllers and set irrigation schedules to suit seasonal requirements.
Repair & replace defects to irrigation systems including main and branch line pipe work, solenoid valves and control cable connections.
Clean and service in-line filters.
Record morning and afternoon flow meter and storage reservoir readings to determine water production and /or system leaks.
Design and installation of new watering systems.
Maintain irrigation stock parts to sufficient levels to ensure emergency repairs can be done without delay.
Supervise servicing, cleaning and pump operation of ornamental pools including back washing of bio-filters and sand filters.
Have a working knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
Provide training and guidance to pond technicians
Supervise staff assisting with new installations or repairs
Any additional duties required to meet the operational needs of the department as advised by management and the Head Technician of the Irrigation section.
Experience & Qualifications
Irrigation Association of Australia accredited
Urban Irrigation Installers licence or other recognised irrigation trade qualifications
Training in pipefitting, or plumbing
Current drivers licence preferred
Advanced Certificate of Horticulture or other formal training in urban/agricultural irrigation
Certificate of Competency Backhoe/Loader is advantageous
Plumbers licence and formal qualification
Knowledge of TORO Sentinel program advantageous
