Jericho Showground – Jericho – Qld

Having stayed at Jericho Showground once before, we thought we’d stay again. Jericho is around 1 hour east of Barcaldine or 2.5 hours west from Emerald. After spending the night in Blackall at the Barcoo River Camp we stopped here on our way east.

Jericho Showground Camp

Last time we stayed at the showground there were only a few vans. We were kind of expecting the same this time. However, many more people seem to be travelling Australia then in past years. With that in mind, it’s understandable that not only was the normal camping area full but so was the rest of the showground.

New power and water sites have been added since our last stay but they were also taken. Anyone else arriving had to find an un-powered grass site. Not a problem for us, at the end of the day as we have a great solar and lithium set up for going off grid.

Jericho Showground Amenities

This showground has a couple of blocks of Toilets and showers. Only one had a laundry while we were there.

Low Cost Camp

Jericho Showground is a low cost camp. Only asking $20pn. An honesty box is located below the sign. The longer you stay the cheaper it is. For instance stay 5 days pay $40, stay 10 days pay $80 or stay one month and pay $240, Fantastic!!

I wasn’t sure if it was less for an un powered site as I could not see anything mentioning it. Hence I paid the $20 just in case. Obviously this money is going back in to Jericho Showground for campers which is great for us travellers.

Have A Walk

In walking distance from Jericho showground is the local pub. Meals maybe available but please check.

Anywhere that costs $20 for power, water and has amenities is a good camp in my eyes. Especially for those of us who travel full time or are on a budget. You’ll find a place to park at Jericho Showground even if its off grid. It hasn’t got bells and whistles but some of us don’t need that.
